Friday, August 24, 2018 - This needed some airing out to get going, started out questionable but eventually got damn good. The scents seemed to betray a bit of volatile acidity. The palate amazingly still shows some structure, which together with some smokiness around the edges marks it with a little austerity. But it really improves and sweetens up in the glass. Some blueberry fruit (a Poyferre signature) even manages to come out of the woodwork, and the smoke gets even more billowy. By the end this might have even managed to match the Larose.
