Saturday, January 9, 2016 - Black cherry, earth and minerals on the nose. Medium bodied and nearly perfectly balanced between fruit, structure and acidity. Black cherry upfront with darker black raspberry behind and then adds tart red cherry and strawberry towards the finish. Excellent transition as it moves from the initial black fruit to the tart, more acidity driven notes in the background and then brightens right before the finish. The finish literally sailed with spice, earth and mineral notes and that wonderfully tartness from the acidity swirling and adding complexity. This wine has shown exceptionally well over the past three years that I have been drinking it and based on the last three bottles in particular, it feels like, while at peak or very close, it should be able to remain at this level for several more years. Wish I had more. I just love the longevity of St Innocent pinots.
