Sunday, November 30, 2014 - This bottle of generic Barbaresco from a reputedly so-so vintage was really excellent. Colour was quite light and transparent but showed few signs of bricking. The nose was bright and fragrant with a blend of fresh raspberry, framboise eau de vie blanche and violets. The medium bodied pale was linear and quite long with more bright fruit adding a touch of delicious varnish and liqueur to the raspberry and violets, some underlying secondary notes, moreish acidity and enough firmness of grip to support the finish. The overall effect was fresh, fragrant and very elegant. Bravo Giacosa and Barbaresco. Excellent but my last bottle, alas.
