Thursday, February 19, 2015 - In open decanter for about 30 minutes; then double decanted back to bottle for about 7 hours. Dark purple. Characteristic Bordeaux nose of iron, with black currant, forest soil and faint floral nose. Mostly black fruits (plum, blackberry some cherry) that were slightly richer and riper than I was expecting (in a good way), with tobacco, leather and moderate oak. One can sense that this wine has a lot of power in reserve with components that will be unleashed with more time, but it was quite approachable and delicious for a wine that has not quite entered its optimal drinking window.

2/20/2015 4:32:00 PM - Sounds like you are describing a wine from the great 1982 vintage. Thanks for the nice write up!
