Wednesday, March 10, 2010 - Open 8 hours, in bottle with a cork in the top, listening to some house music: The fruit on the nose seems heavy and dark here with some wet soil and mushroom as well. The acidity rises up on the nose quite a bit. Nice feel on the palate with a good amount of acidity still and very firm tannins, drys the mouth out proper. Tending toward more dark fruits here as well with a some brightness, peppermint, wood and fungal notes as well. While the flavor doesn't stick around to long, tannins grip for a good 10 seconds after swallowed. Still showing some plummy notes on the palate like the previous taster described, and I agree I probably wouldn't peg this as Burgundy either.
