86 Points

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 - The Apothic blend is a purple hued wine with a medium plus body. The nose is subdued with black cherry, oak and vanilla. A finely gritty texture is immediately noticeable, along with a viscous mouth feel. Rich and fruity tastes of black cherry, plum and oak. The finish is average with more black cherry and oak. Lots of oak and tannins, but still an everyday drinker and priced that way as well. A previous bottle was way underwhelming compared to this one, there seems to be a lack of consistency bottle to bottle with this wine. The reviews in Cellartracker! seem to support this as they appear to present bimodal data. Awarding an 86 today, but the last bottle was about an 82.
