Sunday, January 24, 2010 - Cork stained 3/4 way up, broke in half as it was being pulled. Not as floral as some of the more recent vintage but a nice margaux nose nonetheless. Very little fruit showing upon pouring, but luckily with an hour of air it emerged. It has some lovely balanced (ie. not overtly sweet) red fruit, tobacco, leather. Good acidity but leering on being a little tart. Very soft and smooth with resolved tannins. Overall an excellent example of a nicely aged classic bordeaux, but lacks concentration or something extra to really excite me. Seems to me it won't be gaining anything from further age.
