Wednesday, June 19, 2019 - Unmistakably California Ca. Like others who recommended, decanted for 60+ minutes. Perfect choice for a shared grilled Porterhouse. Thick, chewy, jammy, quite a dark purple, with nose of cigar, sweet fruits, and of course (for good or ill), oak. Nice long finish. Drinking so well right now.

Powerful wine, no rough edges, rich mouthfeel, cassis, chocolate, espresso and no hint of that caramelly, Caymus flavor that makes a wine lover want to use a spit bucket. The finish is very long and the wine evolves in the glass. Will it age... yes, it's still very powerful and it did take 90 minutes in the decanter and another hour of drinking to open beautifully, but it did keep evolving in the glass until the last sip. But it's drinking beautifully here and highly recommend it accompanied by a porterhouse, or new york strip, no vegetarian or seafood dishes with this one.
