Wednesday, October 9, 2013 - 60 min decant...inky violet color with fair amount of clarity...very fresh and layered nose of black fruits, mocha and wet earth with subtle floral notes...bold and voluminous on entry with charred ripe black fruits, mulled spices, and graphite all brought together with excellent structure...tannins are young and chewy but refined with well-balanced bright acidity and an extremely long finish...60% cabernet franc makes this a unique PL and a bit more fruit forward than recent left bank tastings but it all works... simply delicious...14% alcohol...given the storied history and purchase by Haut Brion last year, try to find some of this as it is a good value and will never be produced after 2011; imo, 2009 is the best vintage
