1995 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou

95 Points

Wednesday, February 8, 2023 - I have trying this annually for the last 5 years tracking its evolvement, and have enjoyed it at every stage of its development. It has really hit its stride in the last 12 months, and with a structure that means it should be drinking for the next half century. The taste profile is as per previous notes with red berry fruits, but lingering notes of rose are now apparent lending a real delicacy to the palate. The tannin is sweetening, but will always keep that bite particularly on the finish. 1995 always seems to be one of the divisive vintages, and admittedly it is old school, but I am a great fan. A lengthy decant still really helps at this stage and the wine kept on developing in the glass throughout the evening.
