93 Points

Friday, June 27, 2003 - Tasted from the wine bar at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bright disc. Opaque ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, developing over two hours in the glass and showing intense chocolate, currants, vanilla, tar and earth aromas. Full-bodied on the palate, with firm, somewhat astringent tannins, good acidity and similar flavors as for the nose. Long, dry finish. There is no question that this is a superb Ducru, but it needs time in the bottle to flesh out and let the tannins soften. It certainly has the structure to allow extended aging, and will quite possibly merit a higher score in the future.
