Thursday, July 6, 2017 - The wine has significantly evolved over the last year (as with a lot of 1995s) and is now starting to drink well. The 1995s in general are always going to be rather old fashioned, almost austere wines, and while this does not have the elegance of the 1996 and 1998, it is still a great drink. The nose is bold full of blackcurrent and plum, and is well balanced with sharp tannins on the palate. It has depth and complexity, and a good long balanced finish. There is still scope for the wine to evolve and for the tannins to further resolve, but its basic style is going to stay the same. However, a good wine, but needing a good few hours in the decanter at this stage.
