Saturday, May 17, 2014 - Opened this at home with Mrs L after we polished off a 1964 Ch Canon and still felt thirsty... What a difference 40 years makes! Big, black thick and oily is what I registered in the initial few seconds, though after my taste buds readjusted somewhat (and the wine had a chance to catch a breath) the more subtle ash, mineral and crushed leaves notes started to creep in. But still quite big and black; the dark berries very fresh and primary, though the tannins are just beginning to soften ever so slightly. This wine can easily last 20 years I think...
