Saturday, September 3, 2011 - First release of this wine, summer 2010, from Halter Ranch fruit. Decanted 2 hours, consumed over 2 hours. This transformed repeatedly over the time it was open. At first, it was dark and brambly but also a bit fumey so I left it in the glass to mellow out. After 30 minutes or so, it primarily showed concentrated red berries with some oak and subtle nuttiness. After another hour in the glass, it had come together nicely, still full of concentrated black fruit, but with acids coming forward into a pleasant and lively balance. Not sure where this is headed, but it was tasty tonight.
