Wednesday, June 4, 2014 - To back up the amazing Figgins, I pulled two bottles of 2008 Mondavi Private Reserve from my locker at Hanna’s. They too were opened about 4PM so they had been breathing for about 4+ hours. Similar to its cousin from the North (Figgins) the Mondavi had big berries on the nose and some unidentifiable florals (which could have come from the ladies thanking us for the rounds of drinks?). Not quite as chewy as the Figgins, but smooth just the same. The tannins were smooth, but the acidics were present in an interestingly pleasurable way. If you were concerned, we shared these two bottles with plenty of people. It was a great paring with the incredible beef Sean and team Hanna’s put together.
