Thursday, May 5, 2011 - (12%) 50% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cot (Malbec), 20% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon – A Dressner selection this is labeled as Vin de Pays as a red wine from the region of Muscadet is not allowed. Before anything else you know this one will be racy (acidity) and Gamay like. Here the nose and palate quickly confirm. On the palate this one shows the triple T’s…tart, (seemingly but not really) thin and tight with intense minerality. Given the nature of whites I’m struck by what terroir seems to impart here. Most may prefer this one paired with food but I like it as a standalone despite the short finish. As for those that say serve it slightly chilled I say no thanks. I’ll take it as it is. How about you?
