Thursday, September 12, 2013 - Ai! Finally after laying in my cellar for 7 years, I've uncorked one of my 3 Pontet Canet's. But What I hoped for ( an wine that sings halelujah) was not really delivered. The nose promised a lot of fruit, but it really lacked it in taste. rather toned down, earthy, some dark fruit. No big finish. Not what I expected at all.
After other dissapointing encounters with the better cru's in my celar, i'm starting to doubt the conditions of my cellar... Haha.

9/12/2013 7:46:00 PM - So many of the '04s seem to be still sleepy. a few taste pretty good for a couple of hours, but then quickly become disjointed with abrasive tannin and high acids, Cler-Milon. Pontet-Canet from 2003 is barely waking up, just like Pichon-Baron. I would hold on to the next three for a bit longer. One that is drinking quite better than earlier predicted is Lascombes (Margaux.) If you can find a few of these gems, usually under $50, it shows the real potential of the vintage.
