2002 Dom Pérignon Champagne

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

80 Points

Thursday, February 18, 2016 - Did not expect it to be so youthful. Like a racehorse clearing Beeches Brook with a few feet to spare, vibrant, but there are clear signs of maturity on the nose, delicious. Has the structure, definition and class of all things great, but I enjoyed it now . Hard pushed to decide if I prefer the 2005, for different reasons. Long, long finish.

I'm just puzzled that some people have difficulties using the 100-point system, even though it's explained in detail here: https://www.cellartracker.com/content.asp?iContent=34

A barely above average to very good wine displaying various degrees of finesse and flavor as well as character with no noticeable flaws.

7/17/2016 3:02:00 PM - The other comments are correct: you do not understand the 100 pt system. If you doubt us, check out what Robert Parker says about wines he has scored 80. Your score skews the overall score for this wine and is unhelpful.

7/18/2016 1:23:00 AM - I am not Robert Parker. Neither are the 28 people who regularly attend tastings that I host, and not one of them can understand the Robert Parker tasting system. This is probably because , like me, they see no point whatsoever in using a 100 point system that declares any wine scoring less than 59 "to be deemed unacceptable". We see wine tasting as enjoyment , fun and more importantly, accept and encourage the fact that wine tasting will yield many individual and personal opinions. It is aso a lot more interesting to read comments rather than a score.
