2008 Passopisciaro Passopisciaro

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Tuesday, February 4, 2014 - Powerfully elegant aromas while pouring in the decanter, though these had become more restrained after the long decant and an additional two hours open at the dinner table. In retrospect, I'm not sure I needed to aerate it at all, beyond say a 30-minute Audoze, as the nose and palate both said "drink me, now". But, having had five or six of these already, I wanted to see what a thorough aeration would do. What I got was all about structure, and classic lines, firm acidity and and a tense, and lengthy finish as if to say, "I'm not ready yet". So, there you have it, enjoy this as a PnP now, or wait 3-4 more years as this youngster develops and becomes more comfortable in its own skin. Black tea, cranberry, black cherry, grilled herbs, a touch of smoke. Flavors follow on the medium-bodied, dry toward austere palate. This is pretty serious juice for a $35 bottle. highly recommended, 15,0% abv (fully resolved), thru 2023.

2/5/2014 7:04:00 PM - I have a couple of bottles of this downstairs, and every time I see them, I want to open one, but I think, "not yet." TN like this, I'm thinking that I'm opening one sooner than later!

2/5/2014 7:12:00 PM - well, not sure what your downstairs temperature is (mine is 56F at the moment), but if it's where I think it is, bring one up, pop the cork and give it 30 minutes on the kitchen counter - should be pretty good
