Community Tasting Note

Tuesday, November 2, 2010 - I double decanted back into the bottle and then drank with Thanksgiving dinner 4-1/2 hours later because someone on WB said this was ready to drink. Wrong. I have had young Thomas Rivers Brown cabs and they were fiercely tannic and tight as a drum. This was not, but it still tastes too much of the wood treatment - vanilla and toasty oak, with not enough of the fruit and power that I enjoy from TRB wines. This needs to rest for a while - as in years - to allow the flavors to integrate and the fruit to emeger from hiding behind the oak. I have a second bottle that I also double decanted and that we did not reopen. We will open it tonight and see if the extended oxygenation changes anything.
