Monday, July 13, 2015 - 2003 vintage and therefore may be atypical for this wine.
Light garnet red with definite browning, its age is clearly beginning to show. Lovely PN nose of tobacco, prunes, barnyard, sweet truffles (! I know). Medium bodied, still fruity with a little tannin left to give it some backbone; brambly or boiled fruit still fresh (my wife said not too sweet cherries). Lingers in the mouth with a perfume of violets. Will still stand up to not too strongly flavoured food, simple lamb eg..
Don't decant this wine, there is little sediment and it began to lose its charm after about an hour and a half. Began to restore my faith in mid-priced French PN, but how typical was it?
