96 Points

Sunday, April 12, 2009 - Decanted 3 hours, consumed over 6. Deep ruby red, almost purple. Pure expression of currant and blackberry liqueur complemented by vanilla, smoke, violets and oak spice. Aromatic and expressive on the nose. Lush, dense and ripe on the palate -- unmistakeably Californian -- but maintains an excellent balance and elegance that I often don't find in CA cults. Youthfully tannic; needs several years before entering its drinking window and it ought to last a very long time. Stunningly good wine! 96+.
