Friday, September 27, 2013 - Welcome Back Kelvin! (Kelvin and Joyce's Place, Bishan): An enjoyable Bordeaux. This had a very classic left-bank nose, with tobacco and cedar wood wrapped around ripe aromas of cassis, roasted capsicum and a trail of tea leaves. The palate had a soft plush feel to it, especially on the cassis and blackberry-led attack and the more floral midpalate. It was rather ripe, but nicely balanced by juicy acidity. Midweight, nothing absolutely complex or special, but very satisfyingly enjoyable. It had a nicely gentle finish too, with some puffs of tobacco and smoke and a bit of herb riding on a light layer of slightly powdery tannins. Very decent; drinking nicely now - a pleasant surprise when it was unveiled as a Kirwan.
