Saturday, September 24, 2022 - Brought by a friend to dinner, this was really lovely with lots of tobacco, plum, blackberry, black currant and hints of tar and chocolate. Restrained compared to the versions being made by the current winery and very well balanced with plenty of fruit, acidity, secondary characteristics and modest ABV (13.5%). This was a tough vintage but very well done by Tim Mondavi. Still youthful looking with no bricking whatsoever and still some tannic grip though mostly integrated. Perhaps some room for improvement in a good cellar, given the still vibrant fruit.
