Monday, December 22, 2008 - Beautiful bouquet of earthy aromas (forest floor, cedar, leather, dried tobacco). Less thrilling on the palate. Medium-bodied,this wine is losing some of its weight. The mid-palate was elegant and nuanced with dried herbs and still some cassis and tobacco, but all more subtle than other recent bottles. I don't know if this was bottle variance or signalling a rapid entry into another phase of maturity. Ruby color extended to rim. Fine finish, but not extensive.
