95 Points

Saturday, April 30, 2011 - Usually when I buy these high scoring Parker wines I only have 1 or 2 bottles so I stash them away and wait for them to reach their peak. This time I scored 4 of the 98pt Conn Valley so I decided to open it young to watch it evolve.
Decanted for 2+ hours and it was still a bit tight. Dark, dense purple typical of ripe Cabernet. On the nose cassis and dark fruits with a hint of cedar that I find in Napa Cabs. You can taste the elegance and power in this wine. The tannins are there but wrapped in ripe fruit that coats the mouth. It is interesting to extrapolate to the future when this will be a blockbuster wine. I can recall tasting older Napa cabs and I think I can see how this will develop those secondary notes that should turn this into an outstanding wine. Will try to stagger the remaining bottles at 5, 10 and 15 years and watch them mature.
