Monday, January 16, 2012 - OK, not sure what happened here. I loved the first bottle. Dark profile nose with black currants, spice, and cedar wood. Palate is round, ripe, and really coats the palate. Dense fruit, with currants, cassis, and blackberry while adding a little mild chocolate that carries on a lengthy finish of chocolate, mild vanilla, and black currants. While the depth and concentration is there, this bottle lacks any energy or poise and come across as a rather ordinary Napa cab. I am much less optimistic than my last bottle in July as it does not perform for the price point. Initially imperceptible tannin that comes out with air, but almost lacks structure.
