Saturday, November 15, 2014 - We had this as a pop and decant. Straight out of the bottle it was tight and showing a lot of fruit but backward, even with a lot of agitation in the glass. After four hours the wine was very open and nice. The fruit matured and almost seems like a syrah in the early body. Body is definitely cab but the finish again echos a heavily extracted syrah in this dark, almost jammy sun ripened fruit. Tanins and terroir are both multi-layered and strong. There is some spice in the nose that lasts through the finish, much like anise and a little pepper.

The finish is what makes this wine. I've typed this entire bit and the finish is still on my tongue. Amazing. Why oh why didn't I buy more of this wine for $70? I think this has got to be the best $70 wine I've ever purchased.
