98 Points

Sunday, April 12, 2020 - On the nose there is a sensually warm earthiness laced with seductive aromas of red and blue fruit compote, cedar, tobacco, leather and more than a hint of camphor wood. In the mouth the wine is gloriously silky, with tastes of primary red fruit, stewed black fruit, chocolate milk, vanilla, anise and a salty umami component. There is also a vivacious acidity that amplifies the fruit flavors and extends the lush finish, even in the midst of burgeoning tertiary notes. As for the tannins, they are fully and beautifully integrated. Yes, this is a gorgeous, balanced and delicious mature wine. Well-stored bottles should age and please for at least another dozen years. 98+ points and the best ACV cab to date. (This has become a reliably delicious old friend. It was served with yet another Easter leg of lamb and the paring was once again spectacular.)
