Tuesday, March 8, 2011 - This wine really finds a great balance on all levels. It's fairly modern but avoids clubbing us over the head with explicit oak or abv (this is 13.5%). It's got a solid core of fruit with even a sense of sweetness at times, but shows no signs of heavy extraction. An expressive nose with high berry tones, a bit of tar; the mouthfeel is soft even as it has solid acidity. Expressive, but subtle and pure. It seems to be drinking well right now. The wine is fairly straightforward, lacking much complexity and the finish is modest.
