  • Very good fill level at bottom neck; rusty maroon color with a clear edge; dried black currant, dried violet, dusty earth/old book; a hint of dried cherry; with air a hint of funk came out, but not totally off putting; still has some life in the palate with some fruit and mostly resolved tannins; enjoyable and fun to try if not a mind blowing showing

  • PnP. I did not inspect the condition of the cork, but the bottle looked pristine. I received a pour into a small white wine glass, but the nose immediately jumped out at me with cedar and cocoa powder. Palate was velvety and rich at first. It was very easy to drink the entire glass, but I held on to it for another hour. Unfortunately, the nose faded, and the wine became thinner with a dried herb finish. 95 for the first 30 minutes.

  • Pulled from a 50 degree cellar and tasted alongside a '76 Dry Creek Sonoma County Cabernet. Color was remarkably healthy, dark read heart with bricking at the edges. Cork came out in one piece, still in good condition. When first opened it showed some strong maderization notes on the nose, along with some sweet caramel and cigar smoke. Palate was somewhat thin but with pretty notes of cassis, leather, tobacco leaf and nice acidity. But with about 15 minutes of air, the wine really got going - putting on weight and sweetness, while the mouthfeel rounded out. The nose blossomed as well with notes of eucalyptus and rose petals along with creamy red fruits. With further time the wine continued to gain weight - almost 'mouth-filling' in the last sips as the 34 year old tannin showed some great grip!

  • Surpised by how this 30 year old wine stood up. Definitely some bricking, but still dark in color. Bouquet strongly reminiscent of a wine cellared for 30 years. Very earthy. Interesting experience that left me suprised by how this wine stood up.
