Vineyard: This vineyard sits at 1600 feet elevation on a bench above Anderson Valley northwest of Boonville. The vines struggle to grow in 18 inches of clay with thick plates of shale beneath. The Wadenswill-2A block was planted in 1990. The Pommard block was t-budded over from 18-year-old Chardonnay vines in 2000. In 2007 we were able to pick both blocks at the end of October without sacrificing balance due to its cool, coastal micro-climate.
Winemaking: Bottling:
• 100% destemmed Pinot Noir • Bottled August 2008 – 150 cases
• Open-top fermentation • AVA: Anderson Valley
• Native yeast • Alcohol: 14.2%
• 50% new French oak • pH: 3.70
• Bottled unfiltered & unfined • TA: 5.5 g/L
