Two Paddocks
2019 TWO PADDOCKS PINOT ROSÉ

About the wine

Only the second release of a Pinot Noir Rosé for Two Paddocks - a dabble in pink. Deliberately selected and grown for Rosé production from estate grown pinot noir vines using organic farming principles at Two Paddocks, The Last Chance Vineyard, Alexandra, Central Otago.

Tasting Notes:

Hand harvested in April 2019 from the Gate Block at Last Chance Vineyard – one of, if not the most, Southern vineyard in the world. Clone 6, which we believe offers the most fruit and elegance for the style that we desire. De-stemmed at the winery and then the juice was given five days with the pigment imbuing pinot skins so that only the most delicate blush pink was extracted. Then the juice was fermented to just off-dry and bottled

Vintage Comment:

Above average rainfall over the Winter and early Spring meant soil water remained at luxury levels for vines over the entire growing season. The Summer heat did accumulate though and shoots grew with ease without any destructive winds. Accurate leaf removal and crop thinning meant the vines had a balanced crop load and the fruit was very clean.

A noticeable benefit was the lack of wind damaged shoots and leaves which really increases the vines ability to produce energy late into the season.

Winemaker Tasting Note:

Cranberries, rose petal and red currant aromatics lead to a tactile and richly textured palate with great tension and drive.
