Quoted from Peter Wellington: "The 2006 (we only bottle one Merlot each year) is not estate bottled. We used a bit of Petit Verdot and Cab Franc in 2006, neither of which we grow."

"It's easier to list the vintages which were Estate Bottled: 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005. Throughout the 90's we did purchase some Merlot from other vineyards. We also always do blending trials with Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, and more recently Petit Verdot and Malbec. The primary goal is to bottle the best wine possible ( with "best" meaning in terms of our stylistic goals). Sometimes the Merlot is so good and complete that blending can't improve it, but more often we end up with a few percent of something else included."
