OVERVIEW
Mildara was originally a producer best known for its fortified wines, and managing director Ron Haselgrove decided to purchase some land in Coonawarra in 1963 for the production of table wines. Mildara went on to great success, producing one of Australia's most iconic and influential wines ever, the 1963 vintage Mildara cabernet nick-named 'Peppermint Patty', as well as Jimmy Watson trophies for the 1981 and 1988 vintages. Subsequent corporate merges and takeovers saw the Mildara Coonawarra winery, known as 'Jamieson's Run', become the label for the entire production of the winery, and the Mildara brand was for some time known as Jamieson's Run Mildara. One thing has remained constant - the vines are capable of producing exceptional fruit.
