“To put it briefly, Kismet means fate or destiny. A nod to a number of unique circumstances that led us to devote several acres of the Frostwatch Vineyard to Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon—and boy are we happy we did! Our mystery clones of these two varietals seem to mesh perfectly with Bennett Valley climatology and soils. As with all our previous vintages of Kismet, the wine is quite dry and the absence of notable residual sugar (often present in Sauvignon Blancs) suggest that it will pair beautifully with a wide variety of foods. We emphasize Kismet’s dryness every year because we believe that sweeter Sauvignon Blancs are an abrogation of a winemaker’s duty to present the varietal in its purest and most vibrant form.”
