The Red Silk is Cave Ridge's designation for its highest quality Cabernet Franc. Winemaker Randy Phillips samples each barrel of the Cab Franc and, in vintages deemed worthy, selects the best ones to designate as Red Silk. Curiously, the labels do not indicate the vintage. However, the two vintages released so far can be distinguished by the hair color of the woman on the label wearing the red dress. The 2006 vintage features a blonde woman while the 2007 features a brunette. The winery has announced that the next vintage of Red Silk will be 2010, and the label will feature a redhead.
