2004
This fine wine comes from the best terroirs in the appellation. Traditional cultivation of the vines – lutté raisonnée (sustainable agriculture) methods have been used here for many years – gets the very best from them.

The symphony of 13 grape varieties enables us to craft wines of great complexity. The main varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault) express themselves remarkably well in this fabulous terroir, and are supplemented by other traditional local vines (Counoise, Terret, Muscardin, Vaccarèse).

We still pick our grapes entirely by hand and – like in the old days – with two buckets, so the fruit can be sorted immediately: we keep only the finest bunches of ripe, healthy grapes, which alone will produce great wines.

The 2004 is notable for its remarkably balance. Deep colour. A fairly expressive bouquet for such a youthful wine, with aromas of black fruits, liquorice and garrigue, and a very elegant floral lining. On the palate, the various components are well harmonised: nicely rounded, lively, with excellent structure and aromas from all the main families: animal (fur), balsamic (resin, vanilla), wood (oak), spice (nutmeg, pepper, liquorice, garrigue, oriental spices), empyreumatic (good tobacco, flintstone), floral (violet, lilac), fruit (wild berries, blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry, bilberry), plants (sweet bay). This wine will beguile beginners and discerning buffs alike. It can be drunk young, or laid down and "forgotten" for a decade or more…
