2013 Dirty and Rowdy Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard "Especial" Mourvèdre
This is 100% Whole Cluster Fermented Mourvèdre from the same vineyard and same pick date as our traditional Santa Barbara Highlands Mourvèdre. How this differers: We fermented this lot separately in another tank. Instead of leaving the skins and stems in contact with the juice for the full duration of fermentation, we pressed the skins 1/2 way through and finished fermentation in barrel. It is not rosé, but is about as light as a red wine as you will find. The nose is wild strawberry, spice, and cedar. On the palate it is fleshy with a spine of acidity and a long high toned finish.
