From label text:" Situated in the Ruwer valley, the Karthaeuserhof's wine making tradition dates back to Roman times. Carthusian monks were making wine at the estate from 1335-1803. Today the Tyrells, who purchased the estate from Napolean in 1811, are in charge. In 1997, Cristoph Tyrell, the Karthaeuserhof's current proprietor, was selected Winemaker fo the Year by the prestigious Feinschmecker magazine in Germany. In 2005, he was awarded as[sic] Producer of the Year by the bestselling German Wineguide [sic] Gault Millau."
