From the winery mailer - Garys’ Vineyard is on the eastern side of the Santa Lucia Highlands which lie between the Carmel valley and the Salinas valley. Cool ocean breezes and fog blow through the Salinas Valley making this an ideal area for growing world-class pinot noir although it is home to many other crops including lemons, asparagus and lettuce. This famous V-shaped 50 acre vineyard is owned and farmed by wine growing legends Gary Franscioni and Gary Pisoni and consists of all Pisoni clone. Aged in a combination of new and older French oak barrels for 11 months and bottled un-fined and un-filtered in August 2006.

Ed's tasting notes: "Lighter in color than the rest of the group, beautiful black cherry, earthy, Santa Lucia Highlands spicy nose. It has both firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The flavors in the mouth are all about the fruit and the oak only sneaks in at the tail end of the long finish. This is the only one of the '05 AP VINs that reminds me of its '04 sibling. Not that the other 6 wines aren't fully ripe, but this Garys' has a hedonistic quality that recalls that very warm, early vintage."
