Grande Année translates to “Great Vintage”, and is only produced in the very best vintage years where fruit shows excellent concentration and ageworthiness. The 2001 release is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Aromas of honeysuckle and ginger are highlighted by floral notes of violets and orange blossoms. The mid-palate is smooth and round, with crisp flavors of red apple, yellow peach, fresh fig and roasted almonds. The finish has nuances of biscuits, nutmeg and vanilla from 48 months of yeast aging in the bottle. Enjoyable now, the 2001 Grande Année will continue to age gracefully for many years to come.
