Release notes

2018 Sonoma County Syrah
After doing a barrel selection for a fantastic new cool-climate Syrah to be released down the road, we found we had a little leftover wine. This leftover wine was outstanding in its own right but just didn’t do anything to improve the final blend. What to do with it? A base for our Sonoma County Syrah! But was there any way to make it even better? After many trials, we tried a blend with some of our Papa’s Block Syrah and the Syrah/Peloursin/Petite Sirah component from Two Acres. Booyah! An absolutely killer Syrah at a crazy low price! Unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Dark purple-ruby. Aromas of blackberry, violet pastilles, and cured meats. Medium to medium-full bodied with flavors of dark cherry, plum, and a soupçon of black licorice. Dee-lish! But what impresses me most about this wine is the balance and texture. This should provide pleasure over a long window. Like fruit? Drink now until 2027. Like secondary aromas and flavors that come with age? Drink 2026 through 2032.
