This is a modern outfit with vineyards on the stunning sloping foothills of the Dolomites. Here, the vineyards benefit from a lot of sunshine exposure, which is crucial to ripening fruit and landing those beautiful aromatic notes in wine. Sunshine is also an important factor here in mitigating temperature as this region (being so far north) can get pretty cold.
Kellerei Auer produce three wines, two whites from the ever-aromatic Gewürztraminer, a textured Pinot Grigio and a red from a local grape varietal called Lagrein. Their wines are a fantastic example of the quality on show in Alto Adige. [Good Pair Days]
