Compared to the last two vintages, 2021 and 2022, yields were relatively abundant in 2020 at 1.75 tons to the acre. In this very warm year, both blocks were picked at the same time on August 25th, the earliest ever. All the fruit was fully destemmed and cold soaked for five days before inoculating for fermentation. After18 days on the skins, the wine was pressed to all French oak, 25% new. Unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Note: Medium ruby-garnet. Effusive, redolent aromas of red cherry, pepper, and bouquet garni. On the palate, medium to medium-full bodied with a cornucopia of savory red berry fruit. Fine-grained tannins emerge in the very long and very clean finish. A very elegant, sophisticated rendition of Zinfandel with the structure and balance to develop for many years. Enjoy this beauty from 2026 through 2036.
