The Bedrock Vineyard is American vineyard royalty, considered by many the most historically and qualitatively gilded plot of land in the Sonoma Valley. Planted to vitis vinifera originally in 1854 and financed by William Tecumseh Sherman (a banker before he was a general), the vineyard has seen American winemaking grow up around it. Over that time it has been planted and replanted, with over 30 different types of grape interspersed throughout the vineyard, much of it Zinfandel and Alicante Bouschet, but also Tempranillo, Mondeuse, Carignane and Mourvedre amongst others.
