Winery Notes: Our 2004 Amber Ridge Vineyard Syrah is our inaugural vintage of this variety. We decided to make this wine in the same style as we make our Pinot Noirs. By doing this we hope to capture the true essence of Russian River Syrah. The grapes were cold soaked, then fermented at moderate temperatures. 35% of the fermentation lots consisted of whole clusters, contributing to the mouth-feel and complexity. We have held this wine for one year in the bottle to give the wine time to relax and integrate before releasing it to you.

Aromatics: Rich and dark with black licorice, black pepper, plum and dry cocoa.

On the palate: Savory structure of pepper and spice carry a core of black cherry and plum. Dusty tannins and pipe tobacco offer a masculine touch to the rich black fruit. Black licorice and dried cherry offer depth on the long, smoky finish.
