Tasted by JCGuthrie on 8/5/2023: This bottle showed an excess of oak, as noted on a prior bottle. My wife and I agree there definitely seems to be some significant bottle variation with this wine. (489 views)
Tasted by srwatters on 12/11/2022 & rated 90 points: Typical Zinfandel notes and profile. Benefitted from about an hour in the glass, so I'd decant or give it a little more cellar time. Went very well with pizza as expected. (889 views)
Tasted by rocknroller on 9/24/2022 & rated 91 points: Very dark red/purple color with a slight garnet hue. PNP, drank two glasses over 2 hours. This takes about 30 minutes to unfold, showing red raspberry, black cherry, some black raspberry, damp soil and moss that gravitates to dry forest floor over time; pepper, spice. The palate is medium-full bodied, leaner in a good way, not so overt, more old school, ripe red berries after 30 minutes, black raspberry, gravel and mineral notes, pepper, and some vanilla emerges later. 91(+?)pts. (1121 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 7/26/2022 & rated 89 points: The overdone oak I found on a previous bottle seems to have been an anomaly. This shows minerally black and blue fruit, slight hint of alcohol on the nose, with blackberry, tart plums on the palate. Somewhat tannic finish. Best with food (ribs in this case). 89-90 (1033 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 5/29/2022: This wine perplexes me. I loved early bottles, then found a couple that were so oaky that they were hard to drink. This one was beautiful, with well-integrated oak and a very perfumed, layered nose of primarily black fruits. Is there that much bottle variation? Or is it me? I haven't perceived this much variation in any other wine. (1025 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 12/19/2021 & rated 83 points: These seem to be showing more and more oak as we open them, or maybe I'm just more sensitive to it. This one really seemed over the top. Rich fruit, but buried in a sea of vanilla and wood. (1017 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 11/9/2021: Right out of the bottle there is an expressive nose of black cherries, dried spices and vanilla. It starts very elegant on the palate, with red and black fruit and perhaps some cocoa. With additional air the oak really emerges, and I found it a little heavy for my tastes, although it mostly works with this varietal. Drinking well now. (788 views)
Tasted by DSNforever on 8/9/2021 & rated 98 points: Jammy, low tannins, subtle alcohol taste, sour cherry on the finish. Plum. Long finish. Can def age for another 5 years at least. (871 views)
Tasted by vespasian on 5/31/2021 & rated 90 points: Classically ripe Zin nose, mixed fruit coulis. Medicinal notes. Warm spice; cough sweets-esque, medicinal palate with good fruit and elegance. Nice depth, carries its alcohol very well. Chambord-like. (860 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 4/18/2021: Another very enjoyable, balanced bottle of zin. (759 views)
Tasted by mdvillaverde on 2/7/2021 & rated 88 points: Best paired with a meal. Standalone it's not much. (752 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 2/1/2021: Another good bottle. This held up really well on day two. (701 views)
Tasted by JCGuthrie on 12/17/2020 & rated 92 points: Served with ribs on my brother in law's birthday. This is a really good zin - very well balanced and leaning towards an old world style - no jammy fruit here. Not a great QPR at MSRP, but at the winery's 50% off holiday price, a true bargain. (589 views)
Tasted by BobKat Cellars on 7/24/2020 & rated 92 points: One of the best vintages of this wine. Smooth, complex, well balanced with more life left in the tannins. (761 views)
Tasted by BigBoy_Sonoma on 6/13/2020 & rated 92 points: Black fruit, tobacco, pepper, cedar, jammy fruit. A-//A (785 views)
Tasted by Heimanator on 3/4/2020 & rated 88 points: Strong, bold Zinfandel. Great with BBQ or pasta (1040 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
