Has a weird funky note with apple underneath. Decent fruit on the palate with a short finish. (2256 views) | | Tasted by jrlamia on 5/31/2014 & rated 89 points: Excellent body, some mineral, pleasant under ripe stone fruit. (3958 views) | | Tasted by Steve&Carolyn on 12/20/2013 & rated 87 points: The wine looks Light gold colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Diacetyl(butter), Lemon, Apricot, and Vanilla. It tastes like Lemon, Strawberry, and Vanilla. The body is Light/Medium. The wine finishes Short.
The second day brings out more melon flavors, especially cantaloupe, and vanilla. It is better the second day. (4491 views) | | Tasted by oropeza on 10/20/2013 & rated 84 points: Key lime pie, not bad, not much here. (4817 views) | | Tasted by Hodad on 7/6/2013 & rated 89 points: Crisp, refreshing and delicious! Well balanced fruit and acidity. (5313 views) | | Tasted by YWG Wine Guy on 6/30/2013 & rated 88 points: Good QPR for this SB from very popular producer that is fairly main stream - something which is a red flag actually for me with respect to a unique wine experience. Saying that, this is well liked on the reviews and is a good example of SB. Nose is rich with some stone fruit/lemon/lime citrus as is palate. Med/full bodied feel with med level acid. Fruit is nice and as nose.
Good mix with food. I would rather grab a SB from NZ or my home land, CAN as have had nice examples of same... prefer a more crisp style. (4040 views) | | Tasted by Harborhounds on 6/28/2013 & rated 88 points: Nice, deck wine (2262 views) | | Tasted by mobie on 5/18/2013 & rated 89 points: served at wedding rehearsal dinner and it was a big hit with many remarking on it so don't need much more review notes than that! (2086 views) | | Tasted by cobystilp on 5/14/2013 & rated 89 points: Nice and light. No smoke. Round. Would buy again for the price. Alison is really into SBs right now. (1915 views) | | Tasted by Mrbuzz on 5/2/2013 & rated 90 points: I am a BIG fan of the Mondavi Fume Blanc's...The Reserve is always killer, and the very rare I Block takes it to a whole other level........BUT, both wines are pretty steep in price, and kind of hard to find. I was just at Mondavi yesterday, and tasted the 2010 Reserve which was killer...and then we had a bottle of the 2007 I Block for lunch....amazing as always. But tonight we are sipping on the $9.99(Costco) reg 2010 Fume.....and I tell you what...you do get some of that Mondavi To Kalon Fume terroir here....pretty darn tasty...clean and refreshing lemon/lime, some tropical/white peach fruit, banana wax, grapefruit tang, slight smokey cold stone flint. Not as substantial as the other two wines, but the little bit of their terroir you get(30% To Kalon fruit) for the money is totally worth it imo! Even has some Semillon blended like the Reserve. Good stuff! (1831 views) | | Tasted by sunalsorises on 3/25/2013 & rated 89 points: Nice food wine. Enough fruit to make it interesting without being too much. Nice acidity and balance. Should buy more. (1841 views) | | Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 3/17/2013 & rated 88 points: Blind Tasting - California Sauvignon Blanc; 3/15/2013-3/25/2013 (My Place - Washington, DC): Tasted blind. Aromas of lemon, margarita salt, grapefruit rind, some green melon… very expressive. Tangy, full, lots of pineapple and key lime flavors, white flowers. Tangy, very fresh acid, yet really rich. No overt oak, rather it blends in with a creamy-coconut accents. This is such a consistently good wine. (2114 views) | | Tasted by giniajim on 3/9/2013 & rated 87 points: Purch at Wegman's last week. Pretty good, would get again. Nice acid, balanced. (1770 views) | | Tasted by Box57 on 1/6/2013 & rated 87 points: Off dry, well balanced acidity with hints of vanilla and citrus. (1893 views) | | Tasted by grayfont on 10/6/2012 & rated 86 points: Wine Tasting Featuring Constellation Wines (Westwood CC, Vienna, VA): faint straw color, inexpressive nose. On the palate, this is nice & round & full. well balanced but lacking in flavor. (2873 views) | | Tasted by Vstalam on 8/28/2012 & rated 87 points: - Yellow color with medium forming legs and aromas of grapefruit, lemon, butterscotch and oak. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, butterscotch and oak with a medium body. Flabby texture with a medium finish. (2071 views) | | Tasted by cbhall on 3/4/2012 & rated 86 points: Tastes of melon and citrus with an earthy bite. The wine is a bit disappointing for a Mondavi Fume Blanc. (2368 views) | | Tasted by cbhall on 2/19/2012 & rated 86 points: A light straw color, a flowery nose, with tastes of citrus and weak melon. Hopefully will improve in the bottle. (2262 views) | | Tasted by awinestory on 9/16/2011 & rated 90 points: Delicious Loire-style Sauvignon Blanc with zingy minerality and lemon-lime flavors. Crisp acidity pairs well with seafood. Producer websiteSauvignon Blanc Varietal CharacterUSAAmerican wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Napa Valley Napa Valley Wineries and Wine (Napa Valley Vintners)Napa ValleySt. Helena |
