Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 85 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 25 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Jmph on 8/15/2019 & rated 88 points: Had this with rotisserie chicken. The wine was golden yellow and had an aroma of citrus. The flavour was of lemon, vanilla, and citrus with a bit of pineapple. Smooth and buttery sensation. This was partially aged in oak and it is noticeable. (901 views)
Tasted by rhud2003 on 12/7/2017 & rated 85 points: Decent Chardonnay with very pronounced buttery notes. Has hints of pear and apple. (1566 views)
Tasted by peeno on 11/17/2017 & rated 87 points: Good pnp especially if you like oaky buttery chards. Opens up at room temp. (1541 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 9/3/2017: Had a quick sip as part of my ongoing reminders that I don't like Chardonnay. A bit of a wow as this was not your typical California Worthified Chardonnay. Was blown away by how delicate the oak influence was to the point that a California Chardonnay fan did not like it! It was not enough however to convert me. No score as it genre is not my thing. More life ahead than the WS review states. (1583 views)
Tasted by Ranjan on 4/21/2017 & rated 85 points: Oak, not buttery. Ok. (1809 views)
Tasted by aagrawal on 1/2/2017 & rated 70 points: Light golden color; nose is pungent with banana, acetone, then high alcohol; palate is full bodied, high unbalanced alcohol, thin non-existent fruit, low acidity; short finish. Difficult to drink, all alcohol and heat without enough fruit backbone. Poor value even as entry-level. 70 (1481 views)
Tasted by zack.wygant on 12/24/2016 & rated 87 points: Stock Napa Valley Chardonnay (937 views)
Tasted by jmcmchi on 12/15/2016 & rated 84 points: Lot of oak apparent on nose - toast

Slight creaminess on palate, peach and buttery texture

Competent winemaking of the traditional California style that resulted in ABC (1051 views)
Tasted by slywka7 on 11/26/2016 & rated 92 points: Seymour Wine Club Meeting 11/26/16 (Home of the Slywka's): Tasted blind. Nose of beeswax, mineral and wet stone. Got some honey, lemon, mineral, stone and melon on the palate. Ended with a 25+ second finish. This one had me stumped. Guessed a Sancerre. Shocked when the bag came off. Never really liked their chardonnay's before but this was nice. I gave it 92 points an it came in 5th on the night. (1336 views)
Tasted by saxwizerd45 on 10/21/2016 & rated 87 points: Baked apple, lemon tart, brioche, some alcohol on the nose. Medium+ weight palate showing creamy lemon and oak tannin. Definitely Napa Chardonnay. A touch more acidity would have really lifted this wine. (943 views)
Tasted by Keeping It Real on 8/29/2016 & rated 86 points: Solid low price point Chardonnay. Clean, crisp, and good sweetness. One-dimensional but what do you expect? (810 views)
Tasted by Glenn92 on 8/10/2016 & rated 86 points: Golden color in the glass
Still fresh as there is a green tinge in the glass as well
Tropical notes with some acidity on the nose
Creamy vanilla on the nose as well
Balanced acidity some MLF - slight
Green apple 1/3 of the way - slight flint- as well
For a Napa Valley chardonnay I would to have a bit more balance. (616 views)
Tasted by Marc on 7/20/2016 & rated 85 points: Delicious, creamy and soft Chardonnay. Very new-world and quite commercial, but there is excellent wine making at work here. Tropical and stone fruit, generous oak and some mealy complexity lifts this well above average. (869 views)
Tasted by Kenneth Long on 7/13/2016: Seem abit cock (616 views)
Tasted by ashikoh on 4/29/2016 & rated 87 points: Light yellow. Golden apple and pear predominate. Creamy mouthfeel with nice balance between fruit, restrained oak treatment, and juicy acidity with only partial malolactic fermentation. Paired well creamy lobster ravioli. (655 views)
Tasted by smphelps on 4/24/2016 & rated 83 points: White yellow. Plenty of oak leaves this a bit harsh with pineapple ripe pear and buttered vanilla. Soft and juicy with limited acidity. (605 views)
Tasted by sdwineguru on 4/14/2016 & rated 86 points: Commercially acceptable value Napa Chardonnay. Light straw gold; light peachy, floral nose; soft, round, decent fruit; hot finish (14.2). Picnic and party wine. (605 views)

Chardonnay

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
